AfterShocks: An Evening with Jess Wells
Wednesday, June 12, 8 pm
Location: Jon Sims Center for the Arts, 1519 Mission @ 11th St
Tickets: $5-10

Hailed by the Lambda Book Report as "one of the greatest books of the 1990s," Jess Wells AfterShock charts the emotional terrain of eight San Franciscans after the big onean 8.0 earthquake that rocks the city. The novel looks at how control is a drug that addicts like any other drug, and the way that intimacy and self-definition are challenged by upheaval. The book, first published in 1992 in the U.S. by Third Side Press, will be re-issued in June 2002 as a Triangle Classic by InsightOut Books, which honors out-of-print books with high literary merit and social significance. Join us this evening for a book signing, Q&A and reception
Three-time Lambda Literary Award finalist Wells is the author/editor of twelve volumes of work, including Love Shook My Heart 2, The Price of Passion, HomeFronts: Controversies in Nontraditional Parenting, and Lesbians Raising Son. The Bay Area Reporter claims that "Wells prose reflects the care of a writer who weighs every word while
achieving a lightness that suggests that we are hearing a story breathlessly told for the first time."
