GENERATION NOW: Writing by Lesbians of Color
Thursday, June 20; 8pm
Cathy Arellano, Tisa Bryant and Reid Gomez
SF LGBT Community Center, 1800 Market @ Octavia (4th Floor)
Lesbians of color were the pioneers of multicultural literature. It is impossible to access the bravery and the influence of such burning literary talents as Audre Lorde, Cherrie Moraga, Jewelle Gomez, Pat Parker, Gloria Anzaldua, Cheryl Clarke, Joy Harjo, June Jordan, Barbara Smith and Chrystos, among others. Tonight we present some of the most exciting inheritors of that pioneering legacy. Cathy Arellano, Tisa Bryant and Reid Gomez will read from these pioneers work as well as their own. After a brief intermission the writers will discuss with each other and the audience what todays challenges, opportunities and ambitions are for todays new generation of lesbian writers of color.
