The exhibitionıs approximately 20 pieces will offer a collective portrait of the queer community as it has developed over the past 30 years. The exhibition will include Chinnıs newest worka portrait of the late Bernice Bing, who was a noted Bay Area pioneer artist of the Beat era.

The June 2002 National Queer Arts Festival will explore the nature of racism from a Queer perspective. In keeping with this theme, "Creating Queer Community " will provide grants between $500 and $1500 to four to six inventive culturally-specific or cross-cultural projects in any artistic medium that address the subject of race. To be eligible to apply, you must attend this two-hour workshop. At the workshopıs conclusion, you can submit a brief written statement about your project.
