Forrest Hamer Forrest Hamer is the author of Call & Response (Alice James, 1995), winner of the Beatrice Hawley Award, and Middle Ear (The Roundhouse Press, 2000), a finalist for the Bay Area Book Reviewers Association Award. His work has appeared in many journals, among them Callaloo, Kenyon Review, Ploughshares, Shenandoah, TriQuarterly and ZYZZYVA; and has been anthologized in Best American Poetry, Poet’s Choice: Poems for Everyday Life, The Geography of Home: California’s Poetry of Place, and Word of Mouth: An Anthology of Gay American Poetry. Hamer is also an Oakland psychologist, candidate psychoanalyst, and a lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley.

D. A. Powell
D. A. Powell is the author of Tea (Wesleyan, 1998) and Lunch (Wesleyan, 2000). A longtime Bay Area resident, he has taught at Sonoma State University, University of San Francisco and San Francisco State. This fall he will begin an appointment at Harvard University as the Briggs-Copeland Lecturer in Poetry. His poems have appeared in Boston Review, Denver Quarterly, the Washington Post and in the anthologies The New Younger American Poets and The World in Us: Gay and Lesbian Writing of the Next Wave. He has received awards from the James Michener Foundation and the Academy of American Poets.
