Jon Sims Center Festival in the Gardens
Saturday, June 5, 11 am - 4 pm
Location: Yerba Buena Gardens/Center for the Arts, 701 Mission @ 3rd
Info: 415.554.0402; www.jonsimsctr.org.

Imagine the world's largest garden party in one of the City's loveliest gardens. Imagine picnicking by the waterfall at Yerba Buena Gardens as you watch G/L/B/T swing bands and opera divas, folksingers and marching bands, actors and cheer squads, Dixieland combos and belly dancing. And you help to make it all happen. Part open-air concert, part 3-ring circus, the festival celebrates 21 years of art created by the performers who call the Jon Sims Center their home. Performances include: excerpts from Carla Lucero's exciting new opera Wuornos, Middle Eastern dancing by Hahbi' Ru, new drama from Tommy Avicolli-Mecca, performance pieces by Gabriel Todd and Violent Dwarf, Kathryn Lyle's music combo from Samuael Topiary's new multi-media show, Atalanta and much more.

The Jon Sims Center for the Performing Arts, San Francisco's only G/L/B/T-identified studio performance facility, provides resources to an amazing array of queer artists year round, including all the festival performers featured here. JSC provides hundreds of artists with a home and studio rehearsal facility, production and administrative support,
publicity and non-profit bookkeeping and an acclaimed artists in residency program.
