Micia Mosely’s first solo show reveals the issues that connect and separate myriad Black women’s communities in the Bay Area. Through different personas, Mosely portrays the diversity of Black lesbian experiences, challenging the notion that there is only one way to be Black or Queer in the 21st century. Each performance is unique, as Mosely’s characters engage with the audience in an improvised Question & Answer segment.  Fresh, hilarious, and insightful, this show is not to be missed.

From doing drag in front of the mirror as a child to telling grown folks jokes all over the country, Micia Mosely has been an entertainer her whole life. Drawing from her Brooklyn roots and passion for improv comedy, Micia fuses a unique blend of hipness, humor, political astuteness, and versatility in her performances. Micia’s desire to surpass the boundaries of the ordinary led to her create “Sistahfriends: A Black Lesbian Puppet Experience” and to co-found Nappy Grooves, an all-Black drag king troupe. During the past 10 years, she has displayed her perfect comedic timing as emcee for the San Francisco Pride Dyke March, the World Homo Hop Festival, Oakland’s Art and Soul festival, the National Queer Arts Festival, Sistahs Steppin’ in Pride, and Liquid Fire Productions.  In May 2006, Micia debuted her one-woman show, “Where My Girls At?: A Comedic Look at Black Lesbians in the Bay Area.”

Saun-Toy Latifa Trotter (Director)
Saun-Toy Latifa Trotter, MA is a community artist and healer who strives to create a safe place for deep inquiry, journey, play and transformation. Saun-Toy supports new works as a director of autobiographical and self-revelatory performance. She received a “best of” award from Jon Sims AIRspace Residency in 2003, and has been blessed to perform on Bay Area stages such as Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, Brava Theatre for Women, Theatre Rhinoceros and the Queer Arts Festival. Saun-Toy is a co-founder of Tangerine Circle a medication group for women of African Descent. As an artist and healer Saun-Toy supports individuals and groups to access creativity, authenticity, and spiritual wisdom. She is dedicated to supporting herself and others to shine with full light and power.
