Fresh Meat Productions and the Queer Cultural Center proudly present the WORLD PREMIERE of The Secret History Of Love … an all-new show by award-winning trailblazer Sean Dorsey Dance. Advance tickets are recommended for this one-weekend-only premiere!

The Secret History Of Love reveals the history of outlawing love and the underground ways that queer and transgender people managed to find – and love – each other in decades past. From 1920’s speakeasies to wartime love affairs to underground cabarets, the “love that dared not speak its name” explodes onstage in this powerful all-new dance theater production by award-winning trailblazer Sean Dorsey .

The Secret History Of Love is the culmination of a two-year community research process conducted by Sean Dorsey. Dorsey conducted archival research and directed LGBT Elders Oral History Projects in San Francisco and Boston. The Secret History Of Love features the voices and stories of these elders, along with powerful, moving and hilarious episodes from our community’s buried history of love.

The Secret History Of Love features a stellar cast of dancers and performers: Sean Dorsey, Juan De La Rosa, Brian Fisher, Nol Simonse and Shawna Virago. Original music by Jesse Olson Bay, StormMiguel Florez, Alex Kelly, Keith Kenniff, Ben Kessler, Jeffrey Alphonsus Mooney and Ramon & Jessica. Sound Engineering by Laura Dean; Lighting Design by Clyde Sheets; Costume Design by Tiffany Amundson.

After making its world premiere in San Francisco, The Secret History Of Love will tour to Boston, Miami and Santa Cruz (May 2012), Los Angeles (August 2012), Chicago and Wisconsin (October 2012) and Philadelphia, San Antonino, Chico, Claremont and other cities in 2013-14. We welcome tour inquiries: please contact us with booking inquiries.

The Secret History Of Love was made possible by generous support from the Queer Cultural Center, the Creative Work Fund (a program of the Walter and Elise Haas Fund supported by generous grants from The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and The James Irvine Foundation), the National Performance Network’s Creation Fund, and the New England Foundation for the Arts’ National Dance Project.
