The Queer Cultural Center and SOMArts Cultural Center present:
Creating Community with Social Media: An Artist Workshop followed by a reception for artists and the boards of directors for QCC and SOMArts. The Workshop is FREE and open to the public.
This workshop will focus on using Facebook to help promote your art, to develop your audience and to be actively engaged in a shared artistic community. You will learn tips, tricks and best practices to create and build your social media following, establish relationships with new fans and collectors, and promote events.

All levels of social media users are welcome. Even if you think you know all of this – there are always tips that you pick up by attending a workshop and updating your skills! Plus you’ll meet new friends and the wonderful board members of Qcc and SOMArts.
Part 1: Facebook Profiles Vs. Pages
6 – 6:30 pm
The first part of the workshop will help you understand key differences between personal profiles and Pages, and provide an overview of how these two Facebook account types can and should work in tandem to establish your professional presence as an artist on Facebook.
Includes a walk-through of basic personal profile and page navigation, preference setting, and functionality.
Part 2: Page Maintenance and Social Engagement Strategies
6:30 – 7:15pm
The second part of the workshop will address strategies to find and engage with your followers on your Page. We will review examples of other artists using Facebook to successfully build and engage their followings, and a few free tools to help you measure your engagement success, such as Facebook insights.
Finally, we will walk through the steps of creating a customized landing page will enable you to create a unique look and feel for your online presence. Participants will be given a detailed template to use this part of the workshop.
A wireless connection will be provided for attendees who optionally attend with their own laptops, but power outlets are not available, so please charge those batteries in advance!
